Goodbye and Goodluck, Good Girl

The very beautiful DOLE XII Med-Arbiter, Atty. Jade Jamora

Atty. Jade with equally stunning cousin Jinky Pacquiao

Hi, folks! I am dedicating this post to a very good friend and co-employee who is now about to leave the DOLE portals for the better after three (3) years of dedicated service.

Atty. Jade Jamora is one of those persons I admire most. She is young, efficient and very talented. An achiever during her school years and a stunner as a young and principled lawyer. A dutiful daughter to her parents and a loving sister to her siblings.

This charmer holds one of the highest positions among the roster of DOLE Officials in Region XII. She joined the department three years ago and right there and then she earned the respect of her co-employees and clients by performing her tasks and functions with utmost sincerity and professionalism. She is one government employee I am very proud of and I perceive to be worth emulating by our people in public service.

Now that she is about to leave us to serve as Clerk of Court of the Regional Trial Court in Gensan, I have this profound wish for her:

May she continue to shine in her new workplace and the folks at RTC
will realize sooner than we did
how lucky they are
for having Atty Jade in their midst!

Thank you, Atty Jade! Goodbye and goodluck, to one of the nicest young ladies I've known!

The Champ Turns Thirty-One

(our champ, photo grabbed from Bren Evangelio's collection)
12.17.09
The lord of the ring turned a year older. Friends from politics, business, sports, showbiz and all walks of life came in droves to celebrate this important day of our boxing champ. His family were also in full force to celebrate said special day with him.

Spotted during the people's champ grand birthday barty were political bigwigs like Sen. Manny Villar ( the pacman referred to him as the upcoming President of the Phils.), Gov. Bongbong Marcos, Gov. Chavit Singson, DOH Sec. Duque and many others. Manny's friends from showbiz ( Cesar Montano, Philip Salvador, Bayani Agbayani, Lito Camo, Onyok Velasco, et. al.) were on hand also to provide entertainment for his visitors. Seen busy table hopping was super Pacmom Dionesia wearing her much publicized purple gown. Gensan and Sarangani biggies were in attendance too.

Other highlights during the celebration:
- The celebration started with a Holy Mass;
- Food served by five caterers overflowed but many still went home with stomachs half empty, half full;
- Drinks overflowed courtesy of Ginebra and San Miguel
- Jinky sang a song for her beloved hubby;
- Pacman kids together with their cousins performed a dance number;
- Mom D dedicated a ballroom dance to her son;
- A brand new car, laptop, E63 nokia phone, digicam and whole lot more items and gadgets were raffled off. A Pastor went home with the the biggest prize; and
- Centerpoint band, Jay Cayuca, Lito Camo and a bevy of national and local stars provided entertainment for the evening.

To sum up, the stars, almost stars, no stars and stars no more came out to greet and celebrate the D day of the champ!

Here's a glimpse of what the author and her friends were up to on 12.17.09.

Thoughts to Ponder This Christmas Season

As we enjoy this christmas season, I wish to share with you, my dear friends, an e-mailed piece from a friend at Petron Corp. This is something to ponder on as we celebrate a simple but meaningful christmas.

  1. Don't compare your life to others.
  2. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
  3. Don't over do. Keep your limits.
  4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
  5. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
  6. Dream more while you are awake
  7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
  8. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with His/her mistakes of the past that will ruin your present happiness.
  9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
  10. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
  11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
  12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
  13. Smile and laugh more.
  14. You don't have to win all arguments, agree or disagree...
  15. Call your family often.
  16. Each day give something good to others.
  17. Forgive everyone for everything..
  18. Spend time w/ people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
  19. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
  20. What other people think of you is none of your business.
  21. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. So stay in touch.

Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

GOD heals everything.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

The best is yet to come.

When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.

Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

- I love Sarah's immaculate image and I consider her as one artist worth emulating by our young people;
- I admire Sarah's versatility as a performer and I know she'll make all the generals swing and sing with her on December 11;
- I have high regards for her musical director , Mr. Louie Ocampo as well as for her other co-performers, namely; Jay-R, Mark Bautista, Simon Wood, Jimmy Marquez and Billy Joe Crawford; and
- I can't bear the thought of my fellow bloggers enjoying the concert to the hilt and am not with them! :-) ( I really, really love these people and oftentimes we're gathered together because of Mr. Wee's generosity)

My Baby Raffy's Red Letter Day

November 19, 1992, 4:32 PM, will forever be etched in my heart. That was the very first moment I heard and saw my little baby cry. A sound which seemed like music to my ears and brought unending great joy in my heart. I still remember vividly those cute little palms I tried to hold with my own and the calmness I felt when I hold her in my arms.

I was with her when she first smiled, crawled and stood up on her own. I was also with her when she started spreading her wings by excelling in the academic world. A feat that made me and her father the proudest parents in the world. Apart from being the best in everything she does, she remained humble and sweet as she is. A loving daughter to us, a supportive and caring sister to her siblings and most of all, a God fearing and responsible individual out to prove her mettle but bears in her mind the importance of keeping grounded.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
RAFFY!

Thank you, Baby, may you'll be truly enriched with all the lessons taught and learned in life!

Movies in my Mind

The author managed to watch a movie last weekend at the newly opened Robinson's Mall. It was directed by Director Roland Emmerich, the same guy who gave us Independence Day. The film was quite entertaining but I found it so absurd. I did not enjoy the movie thoroughly because of not so impressive sub-plots. One saving point of the movie is you'll be able to see several remarkable landmarks including the Himalayas before and supposed to be during destruction.

I have here a list of movies with Cebuano subtitles (provided by Sir Jouie).

Sir Bob's Black Sambo

Sir Bob Munasque, in the center, together with other SCIPSI managers
(photo grabbed from www.scipsi.com)

Mr. Gabriel Munasque or simply Bob to his friends and close associates is one person whom God must have bestowed all the good qualities we always look for in a man. He is God-fearing, good looking, generous, goodhearted, and most of all a gallant boss with great and genuine concern towards his people. This is evident by the way his employees regard and treat him as their boss.

Aside from all these good qualities this one of a kind man have, there is still this one trait of him that made me say - he's simply amazing!
The guy can cook and prepare food that could easily satisfy one's palate. In other words, he's also a gourmet! In fact, I am one of those privileged few who were given the chance to partake of his mouth watering Black Sambo. A very tempting and sinful dessert made out of a mixture of gelatine, cream, milk and chocolate. It was very delectable and could make you crave for more. I couldn't wait to have a taste of Sir Bob's other gastronomic offering!

Photo below is Sir Bob's Black Sambo

We Laughed and Posed with John Lapuz

It's my dear friend, Romy P., tickling John Lapuz to the bones!

At the Gensan Airport, it is likely that one will have the chance to laugh and pose with celebrities and almost celebrities!

Romy and I had the chance of a lifetime when we spotted John Lapuz as he waits for his fetchers to bring him to KCC Mall. We took the opportunity of having our pictures taken with this bubbly comedian. Kudos to John for being so accommodating! I love him for this.

The Halloween Escapade That Almost Never Was

I was out of the house for three days and three nights because of the severe viral infection I had. Much to my little kids' chagrin because all plans for the halloween were put on hold.

To compensate for the lost time, my hubby and I treated the kids to an all-out weekday cum halloween escapade last Monday. We started the day by visiting the graves of our dear departed at the Forest Lake. We brought flowers we sourced out from local suppliers and which were personally arranged by our teen age daughters. We also brought along with us some food while thinking of having some sort of a picnic in the cemetery. Much to our dismay, the place was not ideal for outing because trash of all kinds left by the revellers the night before were scattered all over the place. Not wanting to disappoint the kids we instead brought them to our resort to refresh ourselves from the heat and eye sore we got from the cemetery.

Truly, the day turned out into a refreshing one because the kids enjoyed the dip in the cool waters of Olaer Swimming Resort and much more, they enjoyed the company of their other cousins. As a bonus, a boat captain friend treated them to a bucket of Jollibee chickenjoy.

Our late halloween escapade turned out into a very long day because after the swimming session, we then head out for the mall to do a little shopping. The kids enjoyed the short mall tour as they marvelled over the displayed halloween costumes. The father and I assured them that come next halloween, we'll make sure that they will all have their costumes and we're going to attend all the halloween costume parties in town.

We capped our day with a dinner of pizza and pasta courtesy of Tito Ahmad at Giacominos in Robinsons. Truly it was one exhilirating belated halloween escapade for all of us which left the kids with sun burn and smile on their faces!

Small Steps on Health

A pic of sick looking me grabbed from Mr. Orman Manansala's blog

Life in the fast lane finally took its toll on me and for this reason I am making this post in the comfort of Room 222 of the General Santos Doctors Hospital.

It's a good thing that the physical examination and series of tests done on me yielded negative results. My unhealthy condition was brought about by viral infection and stress as per findings of my physician. I agree when the doctor said that with my age it's important to slow down a bit on everything that I do. With this, I vowed to do and put everything now in moderation.

I am still in the fourth decade of my life and I intend to enjoy several decades more (even if I'll be wearing adult diapers then :-) ), of course with my hubby and kids, and you my everdearest friends! For this to materialize, I must bear in mind to hang in always and to never ever forget to take small steps. . . take small steps.

Please allow me to take this opportunity to thank everyone
who got worried and took good care of me
Dr. Lucy W. Yap, the SPC sisters, the beautiful GSDH nurses, their dynamic ER staff, the orderlies, the dietary and the janitorial staff, the med techs and
the very amiable ultrasound dept in charge and her staff.
BIG thanks also also to my blogger-friends and all my friends out there, you truly inspired and cheered me up. Thank you, guys!
To my sister Alpha, hubby Arnel and my kids - thank you, thank you for everything! Your love and support made me stronger and more eager to continue journeying through life.
To Father God, thank you for reminding me that sometimes in our journey we have to stop and re-assess if the road we are trodding is the right one. Also, sometimes we have to halt to gas up or address some fixing problems and be reminded once more of just taking small steps.
To God be the glory!

Nov. 27 - 28 Holidays Amended (Updated!!!)

I am reprinting in full an article culled out from the DOLE Website.

Gov't declares November 27 and 28 as regional holidays only in ARMM
Friday, October 30, 2009

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) today said that the Malacañang Palace has declared November 27 and 28, 2009 (Eid'l Adha) as regional holidays in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) by virtue of Proclamation No. 1808-A.

Labor and Employment Secretary Marianito D. Roque thus clarified that November 27 and 28, 2009 are not to be observed as holidays throughout the country.

Roque said that the new issuance effectively amended the earlier Proclamation No. 1808, issued earlier on April 21, 2009, which had declared November 28 and 29 this year as national holidays.

He advised the country's employers that as a result of Proclamation No. 1808-A, the pay rules for regular holidays will not apply during the said dates except in ARMM.

The Labor and Employment Chief said that consequently, there will only be three holidays nationwide this November by virtue of the earlier Presidential Proclamation No. 1699 issued on December 24, 2008.

He said these are the All Saints Day to be observed as special non-working day on November 1, the additional special non-working day on November 2 declared by the President for the purpose strengthening family relationship among the Filipinos on All Saints Day, and the regular holiday in celebration of Bonifacio Day on November 30, 2009.

Roque reiterated to employers in the country's private sector the pay rules that must be observed during the said nationwide holidays, as follows:

1) For the special non-working days on November 1 (All Saints Day) and 2, 2009:

a) If worked, an employee is entitled to 130% of his [or her] daily rate for the first 8 hours, and to an additional 30% of his or her hourly rate on the said day for work performed in excess of 8 hours;

b) If unworked, he or she is not entitled to any payment, unless there is a favorable company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment for special days even if not worked;

c) If worked and falling on the employee's rest day, the employee is entitled for the first 8 hours to 150% of his or her regular daily rate, and for work performed in excess of 8 hours, plus 30% of his or her hourly rate on the said day.

2) For the regular holiday on November 30, 2009 (Bonifacio Day):

a) If the holiday falls on an employee's regular workday:

- If worked, [the employee] is entitled to 200% of his [or her] basic wage for the first eight (8) hours and, for work in excess of the 8 hours, to an additional 30% of his or her hourly rate on the said day;

- If unworked, the employee is entitled to 100% of his or her regular daily rate, provided he or she was present or was on leave with pay on the workday immediately preceding the holiday.

b) If the day is the employee's rest day:

- If worked, the employee is entitled, for the first 8 hours, to 200% of his or her daily rate plus 30% and, for work in excess of 8 hours, plus 30% of his or her hourly rate on the said day;

- If unworked, the employee is entitled to 100% of his or her regular daily rate, provided he or she was present or was on leave with pay on the workday immediately preceding the holiday.

c) Where the day immediately preceding the holiday is a non-work day in the establishment or the scheduled rest day of the employee, he or she shall not be deemed on leave of absence on that day, in which case he or she shall be entitled to the holiday pay.

Any clarifications regarding the pay rules may be made with the DOLE's Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC) at tel. no. 527-3000 local 301.

Gold Coins as Golden Investments

I am no numismatics expert but I do know that gold, gold coins and gold bullion are wise investments.

It has been told that due to the intrinsic value of gold more and more investors are putting their investments on gold coins. These investors usually determine the value of these gold coins through it's rarity, age, condition and the number originally minted for the purpose. They have to make sure also that these gold coins are made entirely of gold.

Others reasons why I find it wise to invest on gold, gold coins and gold bullion is that because gold is liquid or easily trade-able, it is transportable, it can be divided into smaller units and it does not decay.

Also because of its' scarcity, gold's value is always stabilized unlike other commodities or precious metals.

Longing for Long Hair

(It's emo time for me, guys! :-()

I am blessed and I'm thankful to the Almighty for all the good thing He has bestowed on me. The only regret I had is that I was not blessed with healthy looking beautiful hair. I have long been wanting to have silky smooth long hair since I was young and yet it still remained a wild dream until this very moment. Maybe it's in the genes because most of us in the family have thin and unhealthy looking hair. Nevertheless, despite the less hair I have now, I am still optimistic that someday or one day I will wake up with my dream hair on.

Easing Lawsuits

Is it possible to feel at ease while facing a lawsuit?

I came across a site offering assistance to people facing lawsuits. This website is tagged as www.anylawsuits.com. I know this could be of great help especially when we talk of sensational cases wherein celebrities are involve. Aside from popular personalities, anybody who's got a case may find this site meritorious. This website is offering to plaintiffs assistance in form of cash advance. Of course, subject to existing regulatory requirements. For more about this topic, please feel free to visit this site about lawsuit loans.

Of course, nothing beats the ideal peaceful life of having no lawsuit whatsoever. But if a lawsuit is unavoidable due to events which were not of your liking, then maybe considering the offer of this site can be a good option.

Fastbreak for Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal for the day. A typical fare for me is usually composed of fried rice, beef tapa, pickled papaya and sunny side up egg. I discovered a place offering this breakfast menu at very affordable price. I am referring to Mang Gorio Restaurant located along National Highway infront of the old city terminal. I've been there with hubby one morning and true enough, the food was great aside from being reasonably priced.

NARS Batch 1 Trainees: Awesome Nurses

A picture of mountains our nurses have to cross in order to administer medication to victims of the
typhoid outbreak in Datal Anggas (the farthest barrio of Alabel)

I am writing this post to pay tribute to the 1st batch of Nurses Assigned in Rural Service (NARS) trainees assigned in Sarangani Province. Their six-month training started last April 1, 2009 and ended September 30, 2009. The zest and endurance they have shown during the training made me think that these bunch of young nurses are simply amazing and awesome! I really, really admire your guts, young people!

Brave nurses navigating their way through steep mountail trails (if this is not utmost public service, I don't know what is this all about anymore!)

a smile on the face despite the imminent dangers in crossing deep rivers
just to reach their destination and help multitude of people afflicted with typhoid fever

holding on for dear life while traversing on shallow rivers passable by 4 x 4 vehicles

During the brief moment given to these tough nurses during the orientation of 2nd batch of NARS Trainees held last week at Tiboli Hotel, I couldn't help it but feel very proud and blessed to have known and been associated with these young people who have so much that lies ahead of them.

beautiful and handsome nurses during their culmination activity

I will surely treasure the memories I had with these people and I am thankful to have been a part of their NARS training months.

Go on, young people! Soar high with the great and not so great experiences you had
with this NARS project. Make the moments you spent with our less fortunate brothers and sisters your guide in order for you to become better and successful people in the future!

Good luck, everyone!
