The Legend Lives On thru Kenny Wizz

the real Michael Jackson during happier days

Almost a year after the death of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, MJ fanatics in General Santos will be treated to a night of moonwalk moves and songs from a whiz of an impersonator by the name of Kenny Wizz.

Kenny Wizz, who?

Kenny wizz has been impersonating the pop icon for twenty-five years now. He is considered as the best MJ mimic artist. He is based in Las Vegas and has been touring a lot of places to present the best of Michael Jackson. This time, he's coming to town - and I, for sure, won't let this rare chance to just pass by without seeing him bring to life the famous dance steps and songs of our pop icon.

Thanks to our mother hen and fairy godmother, Bariles of Gensan News Online Mag, for once again, coming up with a contest tagged as "Why is Watching the Michael Jackson Tribute Contest a Must?" for all bloggers out there who love MJ.

The event's gonna happen on May 2, 2010 at the Lagao Gymnasium in Gensan City. This is brought to us by DIGITAL DETOURS, INC and JETV CHANNEL 43 along with other generous sponsors, namely;Smart, Toyota, Coca-Cola, KCC, Gaisano, Robinson's Place, Home Radio, MOR, ABS-CBN, Clarence Claire, Introns. . .

The Only Thing that's Constant is Change

The famous Bariles of GenSan News Online Mag rocks with his latest Christian Bautista’s Constant Change GenSan Concert blog contest. This concert is in coordination with co-presentors and major sponsors Drumbeat Ventures, Starbright Office Depot, Vertical Builders, DGO Depot and the Gensan City Mayor's Office.

I am interested to watch the upcoming concert of this famous 28 year old balladeer because he has done justice to all songs of Jose Mari Chan he has recorded. In fact, I love his versions more than the other artists' interpretation of JMC's soul stirring songs.

One particular Jose Mari Chan piece, also interpreted by Christian Bautista, I have not grown tired of listening over and over again is Constant Change. This is so because I do believe that in this world the only thing that's forever constant is. . . change. Change that is so inevitable that it won't be surprising anymore if one day another homegrown artist will come out with his/her own version of this song.

As the song goes. . .

We're on the road
We move from place to place
And oftentimes when I'm about to call it home
We'd have to move along
Life is a constant change...
we all believe in this, don't we?

The friends we know we meet along the way
Too soon the times we share form part of yesterday
'Cause life's a constant change
And nothing stays the same, oh no
this is really, really true. . . ( am dedicating this part of the song to a very good friend of mine who passed away recently. . .) the loss was so painful but I have to move on. . . letting go of painful memories while cherishing all the happy moments we have spent together!

Clouds that move across the skies
Are changing form before our very eyes

Why couldn't we keep time from movin' on?
Hold on to all the years before this moment's gone?
Why must we live the days at such a frightening pace?

We're all like clouds that move across the skies
And changing form before our very eyes
Indeed, time moves so swiftly. . .treasure every moment we have. . . make sure that we spend it with the ones we love... for time's a changing, it's approaching, but we still don't know when. . .

Have we outgrown our Peter Pans and wings?
We've simply grown too old for tales of knights and kings
'Cause life's a constant change
And nothing stays the same, oh no

We may have grown older and wiser now but I know and I still believe that there was "once upon a time" and that "they lived happily ever after" will continue to dwell as long as we try very hard to cope with this continually changing God given life!

God bless, everyone!

Addendum: It's interesting to know that Bariles, Sir Gilbert Tan, me and the guy I eventually married, Arnel, were all in one place when Jose Mari Chan had his concert here in Gensan in the early 90's. In fact, one of the treasured mementos I have, is an authographed picture of Jose Mari Chan from that concert. That picture formed part of the many gifts given to me by my beloved before we got married. :-)

Gotcha TG

good friend Melinda Betaizar, TG and me

Since it is election time in the Philippines, it is but normal to see a deluge of politicians wherever one goes. This statement was affirmed when I saw senatoriable Teofisto (TG) Guingona III at the Gensan Airport the other day. I also saw Ms. Solita Monsod and Vice Presidentiable Loren Legarda there.

That was the third time I saw Sir TG in person and the first time ever I asked for a picture of him taken with me. The mestizo senatoriable was so accommodating. He even suggested as to where we should pose since the lighting was not that good. He even engaged me and my daughter to a very interesting conversation.

The night before, we saw sir TG at the East Asia Royale hotel. He was with ABS CBN's Henry Omaga-Diaz. It was heartwarming to see them pose as I clicked my cam.

the duo obliged to pose with big smiles

Out of small gestures, come big surprises. Sir TG's being so approachable and always ready with a smile, earned him the No. 2 spot on my list of senatoriables. :-D

We're from Mindanao and I think it is also fitting and proper to include in our choices our very own leaders.

Gotcha, Sir TG!

A Time with Atty. Adel Tamano

Sox bloggers in a chitchat over a hearty dinner with Atty. Adel Tamano

Socsksargen bloggers had the chance on engaging in a very lively conversation Atty. Adel Tamano, one of the candidates for senator this coming May 10, 2010 elections, last Saturday at the Grab A Grab Restaurant in Gensan City.

The senatoriable's track record was quite impressive. Aside from being known as the son of Senator Mike Tamano he has made a name for himself in the field of public service and education . To top it all, he was the first Filipino Muslim scholar at the Harvard Law School.

The time we had with atty. Adel Tamano was remarkable. We were able to see him face to face aside from having the chance of cross examining him :-)

He's a good speaker. He can crack jokes as well. Bloggers all were grinning from ear to ear everytime the funny side of him comes out.

Truly, it was a night to remember.

If he did enjoy the night spent with the bloggers, the more we enjoyed and loved spending it with him. He's one senatoriable who's got a heart for the youth and better education. He's very much qualified for running as one and for this, we wish him all the luck!

Good luck, Mr. Senator!

Taking Time to Trek by the River

poised even if gasping for breath :-)

We had the chance of taking a short trek by the Silway River last Good Friday. Tiring but it was fulfilling to the eyes and soul. Managed to commune a bit with nature and we had the chance to visit and appreciate the beauty of the river and its surroundings despite its blemishes.

My memory of the good old river is composed of flowing clean and clear waters. Now it's starting to turn brownish and grayish owing to the growing number of businesses and populace thriving along the river banks.

But the greens, the boulders and a few carabaos are still a sight to behold in this beautiful river. Seeing all of these made me wide eyed as I relished the memories of my childhood.

The short trek brought out lot of stories told to my kids. My fondest memories of the Silway River and stories of what and how was it to trek by this river now and then. . .

my kids taking a rest while bonding with each other atop rocks submerged in the waters

Looking forward for the next chance of taking a trek by the river. . . and hopefully
the waters will be cleaner and clearer by then!
