Of Feats and Friendship

A pic from the animated film How To Train Your Dragon

I am not really into animation movies but after watching Dreamworks' How to Train Your Dragon, my perspective made a turn around.

I loved the way they pictured out Hiccup and Toothless' characters . For sure, we do have our own Hiccups and Toothless in all of us. Hiccup though frail looking managed to make a life changing decision by not killing a monstrous creature. A decision that in the end made everybody realize that it's a small and beautiful world after all.

Toothless, though monstrous looking, is a creature that one can easily relate with in this movie. I love this character because it proved that not all endearing characters must look picture perfect.

I watched this movie with my whole family and we are gladly recommending this film for other families to watch together. It's an animated film of friendship and feats with a heart!

Am Moving On. . .

My life has been in turmoil these past few day. Perplexed feelings gobbled me up. Good thing that there are friends and loved ones who did not let me down during this troublesome time. People who unselfishly gave their best efforts to cheer me up. Thank you, guys!

The emptiness may still be here but I am optimistic this will be over soon. Life has to return to normal and this can be done only by moving on and restoring the cheerful outlook I used to have. . .

All things happen for a reason. Reasons beyond our control. We are not in position to question everything that had happened, is happening and about to happen.

What's important, we are always ready for anything and thankful for everything! Life has to go on. . . we have to move on. . . hang on and for always. . . take small steps. . . small steps.

I shall pass through this world but once.
Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to
my fellow creature, let me do it now.
Let me not defer not neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again!

To God, from whom all good things come, be the glory! : - )

Goodbye and Godspeed, Glenn

"Wind Beneath My Wings"

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my hero? . . .

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
so high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.

I will really, really miss you Glenn!

My SMI Escapade (3rd and Last Part of A Series)

pic courtesy of Ms. Donna Mae Congson

After a hearty meal at the SMI Nursery, Socsksargen bloggers together with SMI people advanced to our next destination - Sitio Sanlaong, Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.

We all had the chance of experiencing the trek over rough roads, terrains, boulders while navigating through mountainous areas to reach our destination. The feeling was exhilarating as we braced ourselves for that one of a kind rip roaring ride to up, up there.

The trip and the serenity of the mountains we have to cross were breathtaking or in one word, it was FANTASTIC!

If it was fantastic then the apt word to describe the community of our Blaan brothers and sisters we visited would be AMAZING. Amazing in the sense that they were able to preserve their culture and traditions despite the technological advancements and modernization of everything we have now. It's very heartwarming to note that Sagittarius Mines, Inc. is very supportive of this little community and other communities existing around the area.

The visit to Sanlaong community served as an eye opener for me. . . I now realize the beauty and significance of going back to basics. . .

On a lighter note, the SMI Discovery Tour turned out to be a good venue for all of us
- to take a breather from the usual hustle and bustles of our daily lives;
- to bond with each other; and
- to show to the whole wide world that we just simply don't write and take pictures but we,
bloggers, write from the heart and we take pictures because we love doing it!

Kudos to SMI and its people for giving us this once in a lifetime opportunity and for making us realize that we all have the responsibility of doing our own share in preserving the environment.

Again, thank you and
Mabuhay po tayong lahat!

hanggang sa muli. . . . : - )

My SMI Escapade (Part 2)

After the SMI Competence Center, the group's next stop was at the Corefarm. This is the place wherein I had my first encounter with true to life geologists, metallurgists and MS engineers. Aside from brilliance, these people also possess the gift of being good looking ( am I right dear bloggers? :-D) (My belief that Harrison Ford truly personifies who and what a miner is has been affirmed!)

Right next to the Corefarm was the SMI Nursery wherein one can find an assortment of plants (trees, flowers, etc.) ready for distribution to nearby communities and other interested stakeholders. There I learned that they have already planted and distributed over 250,000 seedlings in the project area and neighboring communities as part of SMI's reforestation program.

To show that they truly care for the environment, all of these
are maintained and can be found within the SMI Compound

To sum up, this part of our SMI escapade is a good reminder that
We must and should always care for our environment and mother nature!

Up next, the thrilling and exciting ride towards a community unaffected
by modernization and globalization

My SMI Escapade (1st of Three Parts)

Early blogger birds at the designated meeting place while waiting
for our rides in going to Tampakan

Socsksargen bloggers, composed of beautiful people of all shapes and sizes, had a grand time last March 6, 2010 during the Discovery Tour sponsored by Sagittarius Mines, Inc.

Bloggers Orman, Avel, Donna, Gilbert, Mandi, Rose, Arnel, Tammy, Dimple, Cindy, Rabsky, Lito, Frances, Van and yours truly together with brilliant SMI people left Gensan for our destination at around 7:00 AM after converging beside the City Hall. On board several 4 x 4 vehicles, the group headed for Tampakan and made a quick stop over in Tupi to pick up Doc Remo and Xyr.

After an almost half hour very fine ride, the group reached our first destination, the SMI Competence Center located at Yakal corner talisay Sts in Tampakan, South Cotabato. Coffee, tea and other what have yous were offered to us as early morning snacks. SMI people present made sure that all our needs are addressed at once.

A brief and concise orientation process followed. Focal persons from different SMI departments were on hand to brief us on everything we need to know. We were afforded the chance to take a glimpse on what and how SMI is , its people, safety practices as well as their projects for environment and tribal groups existing within their area of jurisdiction.

Something About Birds and Stone

This is a reprint of some hilarious illustrations on
killing two birds with one stone from an all-girl blog/journal(thank you, girls!)

It could be through a slingshot!
( the sling shooter must possess Antonio Banderas' prowess when it comes to guns)

or a bouncing stone will do. . . ( luoy the birds no?)

or
killing two birds with one stone
can be done like this!
