Air Supply duo Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock

1981:

I was a dreamy eyed teen ager always hoping that my friends, children of Mayor Toning Acharon, would go to the resort so that I can borrow their very precious Walkman. That was my only way then to get connected to Air Supply songs. It's understandable because we were still living then in a world free from all the luxuries brought about by technology. Moreso, I was still coping up then with a life I thought I won't be able to overcome. We were orphaned and just starting to move on by starting a new life with our dear grandmother. Basic needs always prevailed over whatever simple material luxuries. Being able to listen to Air Supply would mean having the luxury of living in a dreamworld even for just an hour or two. I have been treasuring those memories because it motivated me to strive harder in order to become a better person, a best wife to my husband and a mom that rocks for my children.

28 years after:

I am now a woman happily married for seventeen years to a guy who is a good provider. We are blessed with half a dozen all-girls children who are all bubbly and promising. We both have quite stable jobs. We are gearing towards a life full of good things specially for our children. We dream of seeing them all grown up, God fearing and successful in all endeavours they choose to undertake!

Surviving a life nestled on rocky foundation is not that easy. My decision to get married seventeen years ago was based on impulse not by choice. It was a sort of escape for me. An escape from a turbulent life I was in then. Nevertheless, God had been so good to me. His healing ways made me and my husband survived all the crises we faced before and during our married life. Our relationship may not be the perfect one but I am proud to say that it's the kind that withstood the test of time. Just like the line of a famous Air Supply song Keeping the Love Alive that goes. . If we stand the test of time.. love will be the lasting kind!

I am sharing this other side of me with you, my dear friends, because I am hopeful that this story of mine will somehow inspire others to stay grounded while having a firm belief that God can really do wonders in keeping the love alive!

Also, this is my take to the ongoing blog contest of the famous Bariles of Gensan News Online Mag. I hope that out of this story, others would also be encouraged to give a piece of their mind.

The Dreamwork Ventures who's producing Air Supply Concert in Gensan is, of course, headed by the very handsome Michael Wee of Grab A Crab Restaurant and Coffee Club 101.

The concert's on October 2, 2009, 8:00 P.M. at Lagao Gym, General Santos City.

See you there!
